"Looking for a place to live in San Mateo? Don't even think twice, about this being your new home!
When I was initially searching for apartments in the area, the Lark's google reviews looked so good I thought they were fake, and I kept seeing Ruby's name being mentioned over and over again. There was a good reason for that! Ruby and the entire Lark staff care about every detail, and consistently raise the bar of what is considered "a great apartment complex."
The building is kept spotless, communication is excellent, and the staff are always warm, kind, and helpful. Even the furniture that lives year-round outside is clean and in great condition. On my initial tour, I even learned that the carpet pattern in the hallways is made up on individual tiles, so if there is a mess on the carpet, they can easily replace just the problem spot and not wait for the entire thing to get gross before replacing. So thoughtful! Anything broken was fixed same-day, next day at worst.
And you can't forget the parties! Great food, music, and very kind residents thrown often!
I am so thankful that I picked the Lark as my home. I am moving away from the area and sad to go, but if you are looking for an apartment to live in San Mateo I guarantee I can't imagine you'd find a better apartment than this."

At The Lark, Live and Grow is more than a motto — it’s a way of showing up for one another.
This season, that spirit took root in the most meaningful way. Through the generosity of our residents and the dedication of our on-site team, The Lark proudly donated 6,750 pounds of food, earning 1st place in the North Coast Living Holiday Food Drive and helping nourish families well beyond our community.
Like a garden carefully tended, this effort was built through collective care, creativity, and a shared desire to give back. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and made this possible — and to the incredible team who worked tirelessly to cultivate a community that truly grows together.

Important Gym Renovation Update
Gym Construction Update
We want to provide an honest update on the fitness center reconstruction following the June 2024 fire. While we originally aimed for a December reopening, ongoing construction delays have shifted our current timeline into early February.
We know this process has been long, exhausting, and incredibly frustrating for our community. Please know that we are doing everything in our power to push the final stages forward and prevent the timeline from extending through the end of the month. We appreciate your continued patience as we work toward the finish line!
